The 10th of August 2002 the first project started. The school `La escuelita de la comarca del volcan Mombacho`just outside Granada was in need of new paint, new lights and doors to close the school at night. Earlier that week we had already been there to supply all the students with new study material such as pens, pencils, blocknotes etc. The working team was a mixture of local people, profesoras and students. After three days the job was done. The school looked like new with fresh paint in and outside. Before, the school was real dark inside, because of new lights the students are able to see better now. The doors were placed and painted too. The next week the voluntary team was invited to the opening (photo 1). The team was welcomed by the students (photo 2) who were singing and dancing. We are happy to have helped this school, it was possible because of the cooperation of a mixed group of people with a common goal. The whole project would never have been there without the financial help of Don Benito from Canada. Thanks in name of all the students Don! For sure it was not the last time we have helped this school.
